How tenants access the portal for the first time

A walkthrough for tenants who need the correct landlord portal link and want to understand the first sign-in flow.

What this page helps you do

This guide is for tenants who are opening the RentMouse portal for the first time. It explains how to use the landlord portal link and what to do before your first sign-in.

Before you begin

  • You need the portal link from your landlord.
  • You should know whether your landlord has already given you portal access.
  • If you are new and cannot sign in yet, contact your landlord or property manager before trying again.

Step 1: Open the landlord portal

Open the portal link your landlord shared with you. That link takes you to the correct property portal page for your lease or application.

Step 2: Continue to sign in

Choose the sign-in option from the portal page and enter the email address and password connected to your tenant access.

Step 3: New tenants should contact the landlord first

If this is your first visit and the portal tells you to sign in, contact your landlord or property manager to confirm that your access has been set up. Direct signup has been removed from the public tenant pages.

What happens next

After you sign in, you can open your tenant dashboard to review documents, pay rent online, send messages, and submit maintenance requests.

If something is not working

  • If you are a new tenant but the page tells you to sign in, contact your landlord to confirm that your portal access is ready.
  • If you already created an account and cannot remember your password, use the password reset option from the sign-in page.
  • If the portal link does not open, ask your landlord to send you a fresh link from their dashboard.

Tips

  • Bookmark the portal page after your first successful sign-in.
  • Use the same email address your landlord used when they invited you.
  • If you are unsure whether your account already exists, ask your landlord before creating a second one.

๐Ÿ’ก The average landlord spends 4 hours per month on paperwork. RentMouse users save 3 of those hours!
