Security Deposit Requirements
Florida has specific requirements for holding and returning security deposits:
- No maximum limit: Landlords can charge any reasonable amount
- Storage options: Non-interest bearing account, interest-bearing account (pay tenant annually), or surety bond
- Written notice: Must notify tenant within 30 days where deposit is held
- Return (no deductions): 15 days
- Return (with deductions): 30 days with itemized notice by certified mail
